Prime accused of Rebika Pahadin murder case nabbed from Delhi, brought to Sahibganj

On February 18, Mainul Ansari, the main suspect in the murder case of Rebika Pahadin, was brought to Sahibganj after his arrest in Delhi. Ansari had been on the run since committing the murder and was apprehended in Delhi where he had been hiding to evade arrest. The police had been searching for him, and Borio police station in-charge Jagarnath Pan received a tip-off about his whereabouts in Delhi.

Acting on this information, the station in charge traveled to Delhi and, with the assistance of the Delhi Police, was able to take Ansari's sons into custody, who then provided information leading to Ansari's arrest on February 17. This arrest occurred 62 days after the assassination. Sahibganj SP Anuranjan Kispotta provided this information to reporters on February 18.

The previous year, on December 17, 2022, parts of Rebika Pahadin's body were discovered behind the newly constructed Anganwadi center in Momin Tola of Santhali village in Borio block. Rebika was identified by her elder sister Sheela Pahadin based on the nail polish on her toenails. The police have already arrested multiple suspects in connection with the murder case.

The individuals in custody include Rebika's husband, Dildar Ansari, Dildar's first wife Shareja Khatoon, brother Mo. Mahtab Ansari, Amir Hussain, sister Gulera Khatoon, mother Mariam Nisha, father Mustakim Ansari, Zarina Khatoon, Mainul Haq Momin, and Shahrabano Khatoon. All of the suspects are currently being held in jail.
